What is one thing on your bucket list?
Celebrate my birthday in Ireland (for context, my b-day is St. Patrick's Day)
Sonic or McDonalds?
Sonic! I love their Ocean Water drink
What inspired you to get into journalism?
I wanted to get into a career field where I could tell stories about ordinary people with extraordinary experiences. This field allows you to be a pulse in the community and get their concerns addressed. Most journalists would agree we’re fueled by the community and when they put their trust in us to “get it right” we’ve done our job. The best part was being able to do it in a community I grew up in and had a personal connection to.
What’s the worst gift you’ve ever received, and what did you do about it?
It was probably some article of clothing like a sweater or pajamas. I’m sure I still wore it to show my appreciation. 😊
If you could speak to one deceased person for thirty seconds, who would it be and what would you say?
If I could speak to one deceased person for thirty seconds, it would be my grandma. I would tell her how much I appreciated her constant prayer, love, and encouragement over the years. She passed before I graduated college and so much has evolved in my life since then
Better vocally, Beyoncé or Jennifer Hudson?
Love J Hud, but I gotta go with Beyoncé on this one! She’s an icon.
What is your definition of success?
Success is subjective based on that person’s experience, but I would say it’s defined by happiness. If you’re happy where your life is or headed, then you’re already a success in my opinion.
What are your hobbies?
I love going to concerts, festivals, playing basketball, and rooting for the Boston Celtics especially if they’re playing in Nola.
What’s the career highlight you're proudest of?
My proudest career highlight would be my first Emmy nomination with my investigative piece, Worthy of Redemption, which looked at criminal sentencing for nonviolent offenses in Louisiana. A lot of time and effort was put into that story and being able to see the fruits of my labor was gratifying. Though I didn’t walk away with the trophy, I’m proud of myself for gaining such a prestigious honor in less than two years in the broadcasting industry.
